Precision CNC Turning of Stainless Steel Sensor Housing for Heavy Machinery
Utilizing our expertise in precision CNC turning of parts from stainless steel, Knight Manufacturing Co., Inc. produced these stainless steel housings for speedometer sensors used within a heavy equipment application. The challenge was maintaining the critical .012" wall thickness on the bottom face, this dimension is vital to the sensors proper operation.
Working from customer supplied specifications, our engineering team programmed our CNC equipment to precision turn the outer diameter, drill and bore the inner diameter, then thread both the inner and outer diameters, to within ±.001" tolerances, all while successfully maintaining the critical face wall thickness. Secondary operations consisted of grinding the hex to the specified size.
